|Welcome to Turkish International School (TIS). Whether you are new to TIS or a returning family, we are happy that you have joined us. The faculty, staff, and administration look forward to working with you.
You have made the right choice for your child’s education. TIS has a dedicated and professional staff that will care for your children and hold them accountable to high expectations. Our students, staff and families work together to create an environment where children are intellectually challenged in ways appropriate to their individual strengths, needs, and experiences. At TIS we have a balanced curriculum based on student needs and demands. Therefore, our goal is to create a learning community that is committed to engaging and challenging every student in every classroom.
We believe that parents play a critical role in the success of our students. Parents, you are your child’s first and most important teacher. You know your child better than anyone else and we invite you to work in partnership with your child’s classroom teacher. Please feel free to share any information that you believe will help us increase your child’s success. Teachers, however, have a unique perspective on your child. They will see your child as a member of the class and watch as they interact with peers, face the challenge of new learning, ask questions, and solve problems. Parent and teacher perspectives, working in partnership, are critical to ensure that your child’s time at TIS is exciting and rewarding.
We want our students always to give their best effort to everything they do. Go out of your way to cooperate with others and involve yourself in your school. We have many activities, clubs, and sports that will assist you to make new friends and learn new skills. The more you give, the more you will receive.
This handbook will serve as a guide to familiarize you with your rights and responsibilities as students and parents in our school. It describes our services, rules, and regulations, and contains other information that will serve as a point of reference throughout the school year.
Have a super academic year 2013-2014!
